Carl Say
Carl was born in Rhodesia but spent much of his childhood being educated in the UK. After completing military service in South Africa he embarked on his travels. His passion for food led him to Europe spending time learning recipes and techniques of cooking Italian cuisine in Italy, learning how to make ice cream in Germany and Austria. After a couple of years working in restaurants in Australia and New Zealand he returned to the UK and worked as a trouble shooting manager for a number of pub chains. Frustrated that he kept be moved from pub to pub due to the fact that he always turned each problem site around, he started his own pub.
It was in that pub that he met his future financial backer, John Laycock. John being a very successful businessman has an eye for talent and after seeing Carl running the pub and speaking to him about the industry told him to come up with a concept and he'll back it! It took 2 years for Carl to develop the concept of Say Cafe and John was sold immediately.
Carl's hard work, passion for the business and belief that the customer is the most important thing to Say Cafe has seen the company go from strength to strength.

Carl Says "I scoured the globe for decades to find the finest tastes and greatest dishes.
Now I've blended classic Italian with everything from South African pizza favourites to Greek salad. I only use the very best, traceable ingredients - picked by hand.
It's different, we serve with a smile and I guarantee you'll love it.
Try us for lunch, dinner or to takeaway."
